Hey, I'm running this circuit in an emulator however I am unable to get the timer to work. I don't fully understand the threshold or reset pins. So if someone could point out what it is I've been doing incorrectly it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why don't you make the circuit that is shown in the datasheet for the 555? The datasheet even explains how the 555 works.

The circuit that you've tried to simulate is wrongly wired ..
It's difficult to tell whether it suppose to work in monostable or astable mode, so correct it first,
see examples at: http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/555timer.htm
and run you simulator again ..
