Hello,

I have file with spl file extension, which I would need to convert to some more common formats. I am mechanical engineer student and I would need information about circuit board to be able to design my machine. Unfortunately any pcb design program I have tried can't open .spl files. It might be also that I am too newbie with this electronics design and can't somehow figure it out. I have tried PADS and altium designer.

So, what would be a way to open .spl file and secondly to save this same file to certain more common file formats such as .dxf file? I have access to wide variety of softwares because of my student status.

Thanks already for your answers or follow-up questions. Best regards,

*.SPL is a kind of gerber files output by CADSTAR EDA tools. You can use Gerber Tool or CAM350 to open it.

Actually it could also be a plotter file, it is cadstard default output extension for any post processed file, it references spool files, which older people will remember with dread.
And to be even more pedantic there is 274-X aND 274-D.
