Metrics in FPGA comparison

Are there any specific metrics that are used for comparison between FPGA s? (e.g when we compare xilinx with altera ) . I have used certain metrics like Computational Density and Input Output Bandwidth when analyzing Intel Processors .. Is there anything like this that we can use specifically when analyzing FPGA s?

I would also like to know if there is some link to know the FPGA s in Xilinx Virtex7 family. I have to analyze and find the specific FPGA under Virtex 7 family for specific applications like arithmetic (add, multiply).. Thanks for the help!!
