Hi,
This a fully compatible microchip ICD2, it works with the same devices.
It's fully upgradable with the firmware from microchip.
The only difference it works only on RS232 port, but it's free!!!

But what is the real advantage of this kind of "programmer" :?:
(I think it is able to program a pic, it isn't ?)
Sorry for my ignorance

Hi All

Reading this tread i decided to begin the adventure of building my version of the ICD2 Clone.

I found different version posted in this tread and i get confused
Wich are surely correct?

My intention is to make 2 boards using Eagle with and without USB and to share both with you, but i whant to make the right one.

Thanks
Mauro

**broken link removed** - this version (schematics on top of page) is realy working. From last 3 month his build 70 man :) :)

Perfect, but what about the last schematic in that page with USB?

Thanks for the immediate replay :)

I did the USB design. As mentione the schematic I posted is not the final version. During the last weeks I corrected the bugs and made the PCB layout. I will post my version the next days (schematic/board/BOM). I used mainly SMD parts (don't know if you are familiar with SMD soldering).

If you are making your own board, its a good idea to design the version with USB. If you want to use USB then assemble the Cypress chip, if not leave it unassembled. So you can save some layout time.

Hope this helps,
j

Hi Jenda

Good news, than i stop routing and whait for your board :)
With SMT there are no problems but i like to make an easier version

Very good, my idea was to make both version but only one board :) with and without the USB chip mounted

Thank you

Can you post/share your Eagle design files.

Hi

Of course I will share the files. But maybe you won't be able to load them.

I will uploade them in a few hours.

Stay tuned, j

What is the correct ICD2? Posted in this thread or there posted here >

Are you using registered version of Eagle PCB?

Yet Another ICD2 Clone

Finally I upload my ICD2 colone based on work found at www.mcu.cz, www.EDAboard.com and www.ICD2.de.vu. This design includes the USB functionality. If you don't need the usb port you can just omit U12 and U13 (as well as some resistors and capacitors).

I mainly used SMD parts to get a small PCB.
The PCB prints are ready for exposure, i.e. icd2_pcb_top.pdf is mirrored.

The minimal wire width is 10 mil. Make sure you are able to etch such small structures (experiment with exposure time, base concentration and temperature). It is absolutely possible doing this without adwanced processes.

I tried to use parts which are easy to order and hope this is true for you. Most of them you can order with your common distributor.

Feel free to report any errors.

Enjoy this NebLab release and rock on!

j

sorry, no *.sch and *.brd files awailable!
