Dear ALL,

Can anyone tell me where to find some useful information about the SerDes architecture, how does it operate and what are the applications it is mainly used in ?

Thanks in advance

serdes types

SerDes - Serilalizer and Deserializer also called as MGTs(Multi Giga Bit Tranceivers).
Xilinx Virtex2Pro has 2 types of Serdes. They call it as
Rocket Io 622Mbps to 3.125Gbps
Rocket IoX 2.488 Gbps to 6.25Gbps
U can find more information on the xilinx website
http://www.xilinx.com/products/silicon_solutions/fpgas/virtex/virtex_ii_pro_fpgas/index.htm
**broken link removed**

altera is also having Serdes in their stratixGx family of devices.

Serdes is used on SONET/SDH broadband ADM(Add drop Mux) and in other switching applications. Xilinx have few customers having proven designs using their MGTs.
