Recommend you to read about Leda Constraints Checker and Leda Specifier, from SYNOPSYS ONLINE DOCUMENTATION.

Hello,

You can generally find a lot of material about DRC in the doc of your verification tool.(for example in the repertory: /opt/Mentor/Calibre/docs/)
I use Calibre from Mentor Graphics and the doc useful for Design Rule Check is:
calbr_inter_user.pdf (interactive is the name for the tool, which makes DRC and LVS in Calibre)
svrf_ur.pdf (the syntax for the Standard Verification Rule Format)

You can obtain a lot of paper and help on the support website of your verification software, for mentor see:
