in many posts i saw that flip flops are edge sensitive where as latches are level sensitive.but somewhere i read that even flipflops can be made level sensitive. so what is the difference between a level sensitive flipflop and a latch?

Dear ganeshbhat,

I think it is all about terminology: flip-flops are usually referred to as edge-sensitive, while level-sensitive flip-flops are most common names latches.

Cheers
