laser spirograph questions

I am going to build a laser spyrograph toy that can be seen here.

I actually have quite a few questions so bear with me. thanks

First of all, is there a difference between the three lined schematic symbol that appears (I think as ground) and the one with only two lines on the Switch 1? My guess would be that the three lined one is ground and the two lined one is positive.

Secondly, It says to use two high powered 3055 mosFET transistors. Could I use regular ones that are not mosFET. As seen here as the third one down...

Next, what is the Vcc one that appears a few times.

And lastly, I found the cpu device at this site.

The problem is is that there are two different ones but they are the same. I don't know which one is the right or if they are technically the same.
