Is layout job boring?

I've got an offer of layout engineer recently

Is layout job boring?

hi asic_ant,

congrats for entering in to this field.
the concept of analog layout is very interesting.
it gives the experience in design concepts as well as the layout issues.
only thing the way we approach.
gud luck.

Is layout job boring?

agreed with "omsi"
very challenge for analog layout, not boring at all

Re: Is layout job boring?

it depends on your attitude.

when you are doing layout, talk to designers and learn analog ic design.
talk to process designers, learn about the process. talk to everyone and be interested in the topic and you will learn a lot -- if you want you can go into design later.

layout is very important to analog/rf design if not the most important !

Re: Is layout job boring?

Depends on your patience. If you ratate doing different layout, you may still feel interesting.

Is layout job boring?

wad about digital layout... it must b boring??

Re: Is layout job boring?

digital layout mostly depons on the tools

Re: Is layout job boring?

analog layout is more creative, digital more automated.

Re: Is layout job boring?

Analog layout design is mostly creative and fullu custom,Where as digital is fully automated. My suggestion is to take that offer, that will help u in getting good understanding of the analog circuit design concepts

all the best,
vijay

Is layout job boring?

The layout is important to the performance of analog circuit!

Is layout job boring?

analog layout should not boring, it is a kinkd of art if you really like it.

Re: Is layout job boring?

actually layout using orcad and other cad tools makes life easier!

Re: Is layout job boring?

Hi,

I want to jump from PCB layout to IC layout. Am colelcting some book & some demo software.

Unfortunately at my side no guru...gotta learn all on my own. Any guidence will be appriciated.

Re: Is layout job boring?

get books by hastings, saint and you will be fine.

Re: Is layout job boring?

it is not boring BUT u will need to wear glasses (if u r not wearing them)

Re: Is layout job boring?

Hi:

I think most jobs are boring if without no much interest and knowhow.
Try to broaden and deepen you view of technology starting from your own
focus, like for instance, analog layout engineer / RF system designer / antenna
designer, and you will find a kind of different world.

But for me, this takes me amost 5 years to realize this meaning and works
in my job.

Good luck.

Re: Is layout job boring?

Hi

I am working as analog layout engineer from past one and a half year. With ref. to my experience, really it's a creative art. Am sure, you will enjoy the work.

Re: Is layout job boring?

hi,

I did layout for about 6 months and I could say that after those 6 months I was bored, but taht was because the cricuits I was layouting have always had the same topology.
But really this is all up to you. My opinion is take the job, learn and if you don't like it, leave.

rgds,
M

Re: Is layout job boring?

Hi
I am into layout. Every job has some amount of routine work. But if u try to look into the nuances of it it is very interesting.
And the kind of layout you are into (like analog digital respin) most determines whether it is interesting or not.

Re: Is layout job boring?

hi..
it really depends on you. but for me, it's so interesting. just like playing a game, i enjoy with that job. and suddenly, it's a late at night:D
