Can any one tell me that how is it possible to recognize an antenna's polarization just by looking at the antenna ?

Secondly for modulation is it possible that the frequency of the carrier is less than the information signal ??

Re: Antenna query

you can recognize an antenna's polarization only if you an expert and you know how
its built. if not only by measurement with well known another antenna.

usually the information signal is voice, video or digital info. they are in low frequencies that can't propagate well in air. so by choosing carrier in high freq. that
propagate well in the air and modulate it. we can transmit the information.

Antenna query

If you know what polarization of transmitting antenna is having, then it is easy to guess for receiving antenna.
But if you dnt know of that transmitting antenna polarization, or in case your antenna is transmitting one, then
there might be chance that you will have more than one polarization is involved.
Some standard applications like boardcast or mobile have some typical type of polarization,so you can check these many things before deciding type of polariztion.

Re: Antenna query

Thanks for the positive response .

What i was asking is that suppose if i have a transmitting antenna then is it possible to know whether it is horizontally polarized or vertically by the physical look of the antenna .
Secondly in order to plot the radiation pattern of a particular antenna is it necessary that the receiving antenna is to be a detector antenna. That is the radiation pattern is dependent on the nature of the receiving antenna or not??

Antenna query

Polarization of the antenna depends on the type of antenna(loop, micro strip, dipole etc), the feed and the mounting of the antenna with respect to ground (earth). This all factors decide the polarizations of the antenna.
