Is a Switch acts as a repeater "in addition to switching" or i have to put a repeater with the switch to repeat the signal in case that the wire is more than 100 meters long

hi
u r right the switch do repeating and switching

yes the switch can work as repeater, but you have to take in consideration the delay switch time.

A repeater or hub put in ALL its ports whatever gets
in one of them. There is not discrimination, all infor
mation goes to everybody, therefore wasting band
width. A switch is a little bit more intelligent, it knows
which IP address is associated to each port ( in the
case of home switches) and therefore put the infor
mation destinated to that port only, avoiding using
bandwidth of other ports.

Yes you're right guys..
Switch is a next generation of Hub with a higher capability

It also acts as a repeater for your signals/informations
I think 100 meters is a short cable

Regards,

whatever
hub,switch,router,bridge
