Want to make connection (Wireless) between 5 PIC microcontrollers (can be called users) to one another (can be called Control Room)
so that these 5 PIC micros can send data to the control room (small data one byte)
any suggestions

Thanks

It depends upon the distance and environment.

There are lot of solutions in wireless, You may get answers by providing the details.

@horace1
Thanks very much
your help is very appreciated

i need to build smart cafe in restaurant....every user has a keybad that can send his request through the device

to another device at the chef in the kitchen that will receive table no and things he choosed from a list

sry for late reply iam so sorry for that
and thanks for your reply

If you application to battery powered keypads you would be looking for low power to extend battery life.
e.g. nano watt PIC

and a wireless device the microcontroller can switch off when not transmitting

also look at Nordic RF devices

hi

the RF thing is very much sensitive to the atmosphere conditions and surroundings
if there's a wall or obs truckles in between the line of sight, the range will reduce drastically.
so there would be a fight in your restaurant.secondly do you like to place an antenna at all the tables?
if you want better accuracy, you can use bluetooth or miWi. surely the cost will increase.

If you want to make it bluetooth what needs for project like that ?

hi

blue tooth modules are power consuming and costly. you can find blue tooth module which can be communicated in serial.

Try using the SIMCOM SIM20 UHF transceiver as you don't have to worry about antenna matching and the modules have a network ID, device ID and destination ID and so the transmissions and receptions can be made to be quite selective. Range up to 150M indoors and 1500M line-of-sight. Comms to the PIC is RS232 at 9600 (SIM20 firmware B06) and is all very logical.
