When I connect ICD2. MPLAB gives error messages like below.

Connecting to MPLAB ICD2

MPLAB ICD2 ready for next operation

So is there hardware problem in ICD2 or firmware problem in ICD2. Can I do some thing my self. Please explain.

And when I connect PIC Start Plus programmer am getting this message.

This device requires firmware version 4.50.05 or higher.
This may require purchasing a PICSTART Plus upgrade kit.

I want to know full hardware change require or just bootloader. Exactly what?

Is the ICD2 successfully recognized before the system download begins?

It is difficult to say exactly what the issue is here, you may want to try powering the ICD2 externally rather than rely on the USB port for its power.

Earlier versions of the PIC Start Plus require a hardware upgrade to support later versions of the firmware and therefore be able to program more recent PICs.
