I have been working as an ASIC design and verification engineer for five years, and do not have much interested in hardware design but feel more fun to design the firmware, emulation c model and test bench. I am thinking to change my career to firmware design now. However, I do not know if it is a good idea for me to move to the new field starting from the entry level since i have some experience in asic design. Also, how much knowledge I have to pick up for the firmware engineer position?

Here, I ask for help. Please give me some suggestion and advise.

thx
