Longsung A8000

Hi, has anyone tried using the Longsung A8000 GSM module?

I have recently purchased one and attempting to use it to send an SMS via hyperterminal. Everything works fine up until I hit CTRL-Z and then it returns "ERROR". CME 100 (unknown error). I am using the same technique I have used on SIMCOM300 and SIMCOM548C.

Also, I can call it and see the RING messages coming up but if I send it a text messages it does not receive it.

Does anyone know if there is anything peculiar to these modules?
Thanks

Found the issue if anyone is interested. These modules come with the characterset set to chinese I think. You need to set it to standard GSM format and then everything works hunky dory
