Help me calculate the value of resistance in a step up converter

Q. about circuit of step up converter (attached with it) .
we are doing 6V to 12V,1A with that circuit.and just replacing both transistors by IRF640 N CH.POWER MOSFET.

basic circuit shown is from datasheet of lm3524 pwm IC page no 8.

1.how to calculate the value of resistance 1k and 2k before and after diode d1..

2.if there any modification plz let us know.

please reply today.
