As I know, cooperation is used for long distance. When we transmit bits from source to destination, we have 2 paths. The first path, we transmit the signal through relay after that relay retransmit to destination. the second path, we must transmit the signal direction to destination. However, I don't understand if we do not transmit the signal from source direction to destination, and through an other relay what the happen?

If the distance is very long, destination can receive the signal from source direction?

Please help me!!! urgent!!
