Dears,

I need to build Solar Tracking system. I am interfacing FPGA-Cyclone2 with ADC0820(datasheet attached). The ADC is intended to get voltage variations from the resistance in series with Cds photo resistor and forward the values to FPGA. LDR Circuit is attached.

I am a totally newbie to FPGA and ADCs and I would be really thankful if someone could help me in the following questions:

1) Is the above selection of components good for the project?

2) I need to develop FPGA code for the interfacing? I need to develop the code on top of NIOS-2 processor. Can someone link some helpful links or provide some suggestions for the interface implementation?

Thanks & Best Regards,
Ali Tariq Nagi

You can't just rush into a project like this without knowing some basic VHDL, look up VHDL tutorial or VHDL course on google.
Start out there, If you encounter problems with actual VHDL coding, you can come back and ask them:)

Dear,

I have some experience in Verilog and i think VHDL is somewhat similar. I am actually new to FPGA and ADCs. I need to know some help regarding implementation of the FPGA part (some idea about the possible implementation and interfacing with the ADC would help).

Thanks

In fact no, I dont have any expierience dealing with FPGA - ADC interfacing...

Nut I bet there are a lot of examples running around on the internet(even on this very forum I bet).

Sorry I can't help you any further...
