I have an anisotropic structure where I want to see its response to incident wave at different areas. Therefore I need to use a waveguide. But the problem is that the structure region has master/slave boundaries and then it is not possible to use ports. I am wondering what the options are to simulate it properly; and I appreciate any comment. I can attach the simulation file for further reference if needed.

Hi violetcrow,

I encounter this often in my field of work. There are a couple of options:

a) Use an incident plane wave excitation - you can then examine the total fields and scattered fields independently.

b) Remove a very small rectangle from the master-slave boundaries next to the waveport. Put a new rectangle in these regions, and assign them perfect-E and perfect-H boundaries instead. The waveport can then operate properly, and the bulk of your simulation will see the master/slave boundaries.

Good Luck
