Are there any guys working as ESD/EMC designer in a semi company ? what is the main responsibility and is it interesting ?

In my company the circuit designers do their own ESD
design. It's very rarely interesting at all, and that's how
you probably want it.

I personaly think ESD is a very interesting topic which is sometimes close to black magic.
You can run tons of sims in spice and in technology simulator and final product still fails.
If you are into circuit design only then no it is not interesting.
But if you like semiconductor physics then it is enjoyable!
Most of the designers create basic and very simple structures which work but if you go to specialized ESD structures and lower geometries - good luck.
I never met IC designer who is capable to create ESD structure capable of handlig 8kV, overvoltage, has low capacitance and fits under 1 pad....
