Eagle pro..... what is a .gpi file in the gerbers?

I just gerbered my 4 layer pcb in eagle.....i used the 4 layer program that ships with eagle.........the cam folder contains all the expected files, but some that are ".gpi" files.

what are these?
 

It is just an 'information' file. It is not required.
