Hai

i am working with virtex 5 xupv5 lx110t board. I am trying to output an image on to a monitor using vga. But there is no vga_out in the board so i have to use dvi.

I dont know how to design it. Does it works same as vga (principle). Can somebody suggest me some tutorials or documents. .

TELL ME WHAT ARE THE THINGS I HAVE TO TAKE CARE IF M DESIGNING A DVI CONTROLLER?

Hi

As far as I can see, the board you mentioned is recognized by Xilinx webpage as ML505 dev platform. If this information is correct, you have a Chrontel CH7301C DVI controller on-board. You should download manuals of these and read them.

The DVI connector on board is DVI-I type which means you have an digital and analog output (so the DVI->VGA converter could work properly). If you want to drive vga monitor, you should send signals to Chrontel controller mentioned above; a glance at the datasheet shows that this controller produces both digital and analog signals.

Regards,
