I use the DS89C450 with its in system serial programming often. I am trying to build a small basic micro-controller circuit and don't want to use a 14 pin 74-125. I bought some surface mount dual gate version and after several attempts to solder one of those to a 6 pin socket decided I'll never be able to deal with anything that small.

The parts I got have pins with 0.65 mm centers. Just can't deal with that.

Has anyone ever had any luck using a different component, that I can put on a standard .3" socket ?

Or anyone know of a source where I can get some dual gate 74-125's in a package with pins at something like .05" centers ? I searched for quite a while looking for something like that and never found anything.
