designing of photonic crystal for VHF

Hi, everyone!
I have questions about photonic crystals (PC), could anyone help me?
I need to design 1-D photonic crystal for VHF, but I don't know:
how i can choose lenth of dielectrics (in λ),
what ε I need
the main principles of PC working

May be anyone know a good article or book about designing PC?

Look into a text in optics and the topic of an anti transmission coating (band stop filter). These coatings are simply a 1D Photonic bandgap material. hope this helps.
