hi,


I am doing test point insertion to improve the test coverage. How to find the location i,e where to insert the test point (best location)

You just do the Circuit Analysis like.....Where you lose the fault coverage?
Which faults are not controlled or not observable?
U can get the instances of those faults.
Than at that instance you can insert the test point for improving the controllability and also fault coverage.Test point insertion is basically manual work.So need to do more circuit analysis.

for small circuit it is it is eazy to analyze manually. but for a big circuit it in impossible to analyze manually.

my doubt is by using the tools(dft compiler and tetra max) how to find the location.
my another doubt is tools will give the location or not?

If you have a tool TetraMAX than see the command help for the command : report_faults -summary.
Thn after u can do the location with the report_faults -class $class_name
so the output of the report_faults -class $class_name command :
is the list of the faults of the $class_name with the location.

manually means u can do with the scripting also.

so how will we know the best location. that means tool will give the locations u said.but it is right or not how we will decide. for insertion of control point or obsere point how we will decide.

Just do the command : report_fault -class $class_name.
Its output itself the location and instance or netlist hierarchy.

we are inserting control point to make circuit more observable.means we are adding for control point only....that control point,we can make as observe point.
Sry,as per now i don't have any material for the Test Point insertion. Just try google search for some thesis or dissertation for this particular Test Point Insertion Topic.
