hi forum
i had see a cable that one of end it's was rj45(network connector) and other end it's was connected to rs232 .what is this communication? what is it's usage?:?:
yes i have seen the same in a nuclear lab also they are using these RJ45 sockets for serial communication,
even some people use DB9 for multiple voltage power supllies
but there are RJ45 to serial cable(ie. serial port over IP/ethernet which looks similar) which actually connect a serial port through the rj45 port available in a PC.
Be sure that both of db9 and rj45 communicated RS232 serial data format.
Usually RJ45 used by other protocol such as Filed bus ,CAN,and etc that you must convert your data to that format.
Yes. It is a common practice to use RJ45 connector for RS232 communication.

RJ45 is typically use for Ethernet communication.
Most equipment uses the same RJ45 for RS232 communication (console setting/configuration).
There are others using the same RJ45 for their proprietary protocol.
