Hi,
In the PQ3230 datasheet page 4 they have winding area = 53mm^2 and winding width = 18..7mm….this gives a bobbin depth of 2.83mm.
However, the drawing shows an outer diameter of 26.7mm, and a spool diameter of 15.9mm…..this gives a bobbin depth of 5.4mm
Do you know what is the actual bobbin depth?
Hi Cupoftea,
I remember to find this discrepancy some time ago. My conclusion was that the actual depth is 5.4mm. If you check the PQ3230 coil from TDK, which has very similar dimensions, you can se the winding area is 104mm2.
..the bobbin depth for windings could be either 12.2mm (=309mm^2/25.4mm) or 9.2mm ((=35.9mm - 17.5mm)/2).......there's no way of knowing which one of these numbers is correct?
I´d rely on the drawing.
Not on the result of a math.
One can simply use a rule to find ot if the drawing is correct.
But it´s harder to find out what formula, what conditions, what measures are used to get the area value.
