I know it would be very basic question but I am clueless

Is bandwidth Related to Signals or Systems ?
Why it is important ?

Any documentation to understand this would be really great.
Thanks in advance.

For any given signal, we are interested to find its frequency i.e. when the signal starts repeating.

So, if you can find all the frequencies you can characterize (i.e. functionality or how the system response) the system.

Now, you have the frequencies at which the system works, plot a graph (gain(should be function of frequency) vs frequency).

You will get range of frequencies.

You will have upper cut-off frequency and lower cut-off frequency.

Bandwidth will be difference between them (upper cut-off frequency - lower cut-off frequency).

upper cut-off frequency denotes higher than this frequency system response will be zero or will be tending to zero.

Lower cut-off frequency denotes lower than this frequency system response will be zero or will be tending to zero.

Please help me with some documentation where I can read more on this.

What exactly do you need?

Are you interested in designing a electronic circuits ?

(Because the bandwidth definition depends on your circuit design.)

if yes, are you designing a wireless system or wired system?
