You can not use Flip with 89S53 because those chips have no bootloader.
Flip is only for Rx2 and CC01 mcus.
89s53 does ISP over the SPI bus the newer mcus use the COM port.

I think you can use the sdk dongle for 89s* .
As far as I know AVRs are programmed like the 89s53.
So if you have software which can use the dongle and has support for
89s53 it shoud work.
