1. find the voltage across the 5 ohm resistor. Use kirchoffs laws. answer is 0V, Va =8v, Vb = 8v.
2. P = (I^2) * RL, I = V/(RL+3),V = 9v, P = 81*RL/((RL+3)^2), take derivative and set it equal to 0, gives RL = 3.
