any good microcontroller with lots of flash/ram inside?
something like 256K/32K? need a little controller that has everything to save space. prefer more than 16bit data bus. 8 bit is ok too. 32bit is a over kill for me.
Another way to do it is use a good 8051/8052. Add a waferscale WSI chip on it. You can get one with LOTS of flash and RAM. They are usually inexpensive. That is a good combination if 8-bit is OK but needs lots of storage.
Try with the Mitsubishi M30624 it has 256 kByte of flash memory, it's programmable in-circuit and it has 20k of RAM. It has, also the possibility, to operate as MCU or as CPU (in this way you are able to manage memory up to 4MB).
This uP, for me, is quite good, and you can find all you need for the use on the web (the programmer is a simple MAX232 connecter to the CPU with a few resistors).
Go for the Hitachi h8s or the Mitsubishi M16. Greate suport, almost free compilers, lots on info on the sites. I personally use the M16c , and for smaller projects the AVR's, but the M16c is a joy to use
Atmel ARM AT91FR4042 has 512 kB flash and 256 kB RAM.
Atmel ARM AT91FR4081 has 512 kB flash and 136 kB RAM.
Atmel ARM AT91FR40162 has 2048 kB flash and 256 kB RAM.
