I never come across this kind of diagram
in any other texts. Does anything like this really exist in electronics...Thanks

I know, I know, but I haven't seen such a transistor diagram that
represents them as charge profile before...
Any ideas?

Yes this is a NPN transistor. The slanted line shows the minority carrier density in the base region dropping towards the collector. They are trying to show how varying the collector voltage affects the collector current, i.e. Early voltage.
