After 1us delay a P Mosfet pulls motor high to short out motor in generator mode so it stops quickly. The dead time of 1us is minimum and ccan be more to revent shoot-thru or short across supply.

Thus a half bridge on low side, uses "pull (down)" to start and "push (up)" to stop. P type FET tend to have slightly higher RdsOn.
