Hello all,

Could somebody explain me the role of dc-dc converter?

Is there any alternative mechanism of dc-dc converter?

Please Explain.

Thanks with regards
Cam

The term covers a large range of concepts for converting power.

There is the Wikipedia page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC-to-DC_converter

If we reduce a DC supply, we might choose resistive drop. However that is not an elaborate process, whereas DC-DC conversion suggests an elaborate process.

So I think of it as saying the DC supply is chopped into AC, or pulsed DC, etc...

Then maybe it goes through a coil, or transformer, or charge pump, or switched capacitors, etc....

Then it is fed to a rectifying and smoothing network...
to become DC again.
