Capacitor

Can anybody tell me is that the polarity capacitor/ aluminium capacitor only can use as a filter in the transformer because there are running AC power? Izit only ceramic capacitor can use transformer?

Thanks...

Re: Capacitor

please learn about capacitors in general first, then consider that an electrolytic (polarized) capacitor can only be used with a positive voltage on it.
Apart from the polarization it is just a capacitor among all others, and can be used as such.

Capacitor

Aluminum polarized capacitors have a positive and a negative polarity. When they are connected in reverse, they may explode. So, for filter, only non-polarized capacitors are used as alternating polarity of the AC will not damage it but it WILL damage the electrolytic capacitors.
