Step-up regulator 5V --> 12V using MC34063?

mc34063 application note

I'm currently trying to build a step-up regulator from 5V DC to 12V DC.
Datasheet and application notes of MC34063 are quite good, but I don't have a clue what NPN transistor to use to increase output current:

Q1 and R2 types/ratings are my problem...

Can you help me or provide me a link to existing schematics?
