Is this power circuit dangerous for automotive use?

3.3v 5v regulator zenar

Hi. I have attached a schematic of a power section for a device that is to be used in cars and trucks. The components need both 3.3v and 5v. Of course it works in the lab with a 12 or 24v supply, but how well will this work in a noisy and unstable automotive environment? (will be connected to the battery basically which is 12v in cars and 24v in trucks).

Can anyone suggest changes or a better implementation or different components?

Worst case scenario, alternator regulator fails shorted, relatively old battery, voltage input doubles.

maximum input on the lm2575 is 40 volts.

The circuit is not "dangerous", but it's failure may be spectacular.
As you only anticipate 1 amp at 12 volts, a Transistor-Zenar regulator would add one more element of protection.
 

For the said overload szenario, a 30 V transsorb diode with a fuse should help.
