Hi
Since the foundry does not provide the RF transformer, I am trying to layout a RF transformer myself.
What I did is copy the layout view of a inductor in the technology library and modify the metal layer to make it a transformer.
Now I got the following DRC error
" ERROR: Specified primary cell XXX is not located within the input layout database."
*** Calibre finished with Exit Code: 4 ***

Re: Calibre DRC error

Hi,
I was just looking at thread and found that you are seeing this fails .. do not know whether you get any solution or not, if you already get response then please ignore this.
This kind of message comes when the top cell name that you have mentioned in the control file does not exits in layout data.

Bye,

To my knowledge, Cadence and tools such as Calibre do not like instance names using hyphens, try using an underscore, that got rid of the error straight away for me.
9BitLatch-CLK should be renamed to 9BitLatch_CLK or 9BitLatchCLK etc.

I also met this problem.I named the cell name LDO-layout and got the same error. What i did was just changing the name as LDO_layout. About the reason ,i guess, you can find it.

Hi,

In some tools, the same DRC error may flag if the 'cell name' has more than 6 "_" (underscores). E.g. INV_2X_4X_6X_8X_10X_12X_A.
Try by reducing number of "_" in cell name.

your layout cell name should be less than 32 characters. If the name has more than 32 char, calibre takes only the first 32 char and the cell name u specify will be different than the name in gds, hence the error..
