Hi all,

Please can anyone tel me what is the advantages and drawback of a Delay cell base VCO and an LC VCO. Comparaison in term of speed, area, noise, stability ...etc.
For an on chip application which one is prefered ?

Thanks in advance.

Regarding VCOs

LC vco provide the low noise advantages

but the low KVCO (freq/volt) limit the use

owing to inductors and capacitor will consume large area

think sufficient more you need

Regarding VCOs

Thanks friend,
I'm planning to design a VCO. What interrests me firts is the speed. Could you please tell me which VCO type is speeder ?
Thanks again.

LC VCO: better phase noise
Delay base VCO: less area and large tune range.
