why give 3 or moree times

hi friends,
why do we give our fingerprint 3 or 4 times to register, for example in protector suite fingerprint software and others? why one print is not enough?

its just confirming the print with more than one tries,by sampling each print

could you pls be more clear. i think taking image repeatedly has significant role.
if not why reduce usability of the sw by forcing user to give more instances of his/her print may be quality checking role or some thing. how can we check fingerprint quality and avoid poor images?

that should be to take different samples and consolidate it into one,so that later, your finger print is compared with these samples than to scan with just one image,where there could be a possibility of error if you have not punched properly.
