You can have your own bus architecture for your SoC.
Try NoC concept?
 

There are many bus for SoC IP design. ARM, IBM and WishBone, the last one is fully free. you can get the information from www.opencores.org,
 

I think that in a SoC, if we focus about the performance and the speed of system, AMBA is the good choice, others hand the design need the simple structure for design and verify so we should use WISHBONE.
