Hi,

PA_antenna.jpg
In the attached picture a standard gain antenna is used as the reference for the array antenna. What kind of antenna is it in general, horn antenna?

Usually the Source Antenna is a horn antenna, when the reference (standard) antenna is a dipole (for frequencies up to about 2.5GHz) and could be a patch antenna for frequencies greater than 2.5GHz.
For comparison test (substitution) you have to know the gain of the reference (standard) antenna.
