read and write io file in vhdl

hii... pls anyone tell me that how to use texio in vhdl for reading and writing simple in text file(.txt format).
 

There are many tutorials out there. Google gave me this one first

Im sure there are many others.

I assme this is for a testbench only, as this cannot be synthesised onto an FPGA.
 

is there is any method by use of which i can read values from text file and display it on fpga??
 

Yes, but niot directly in vhdl. You'll need some form of comms connected to a pc and send the data from a pc (maybe a uart or something
