It's not clear, if you're talking about design of opamps or designing with opamps. The answer may be different. Generally a buffer can reduce the influence of load impedance by isolating it from a high impedance node. This implies changes in circuit gain (small signal) and large signal behaviour. But a buffer also may introduce additional distortions and other issues.
