I want to design an ADC with the spec below:
resolution : 12 bit
signal : centered at 2M, passband 2M

Are there any possibility that I relized it using sigma delta ADC,if so,anyone can suggest which configuration should I use?

ADC desgn

If the signal is at 2 MHz, getting a sigma delta modulator to work depends on the limits of the process. Moreover, since the signal is having a passband of 2MHz(1 MHz on each side), try pipelined architecture. I am sure that a 4 stage pipeline can give you the desired results.

For such specs , pipelined architecure is better than Sigma Delta.

Re: ADC desgn

pipeline is good enough for the spec

Re: ADC desgn

Segma-Delta is good for high-solution low-speed purpose.According to you spec, a pipeline structure is a good choice.

Re: ADC desgn

in fact , pipeline save the power and easily made

ADC desgn

The pipeline can get the spec easily, but I don't think 12 bit resolution is easy. Maybe sar is good enough.

ADC desgn

What application you have in your mind for this
ADC .. i guess most of the choices depends on that ..

Re: ADC desgn

Continuous-time sigma delta will have the best FOM (figure of merit).
You can find a good paper in JSSC-Dec 2006.
