Greetings,

I'm trying to find a curcuit to bring 28 Vdc down to 12 Vdc, while keeping 2 amps current.

I've looked into Voltage dividers, but the required resisters would be too large for the application I have planned. Any commercial product is out of my price range. Anyone have any suggestions?

use LM2576 and make a buck regulator, using a potential devider is out of question, the power disipation will be very large, a linear regulator also will diissipate lot of power( 28-12 x 2 amp)

Maybe LM2596 is a good choice too!
National, TI and Linear has a lot of step-down converters and controllers!
Check in manufactures websites and read applications notes and reference designs. In National website, after registering process have a one useful free web tool called "Webench Designer".
