I design three cells ring oscillator, but do not know how to simulating small signal analysis. For your information, I used delay variation by interpolation ring oscillator by Razavi. The questions are;
1. Do I need to used three cells? If I used it, where should I put the AC source?
2. How to determine the gain, because I used differential signal? is it ((out1 - out2)/(input1 - input2)) .

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you can simulate one cell at one time.
Is your ring osc for VCO?

Yes, I used ring oscillator for my VCO. What about getting the gain, my delay cell is diferential signal. Can I using this formula ((out1 - out2)/(input1 - input2)) ?

you can use your formula. you can simulate one cell.

hi

what do you mean of applying the input???!!!! the oscillator doesn't need any input.

Because I am simulating small signal (AC analysis). You need to add AC input, otherwise you can't simulating the small signal.

In hspice, save operating points into a ic, then load this ic and run ac analysis .
In spectre, do pss and pac analysis.
