I have a problem with PCIe edge-finger connector PCB Decal, using PADS Layout software. I cannot associate it correctly with the connector's schematic symbol in DxDesigner. I do not have an experience of working with this program, it is new for me. And unfortunately I do not have any supervisor who might help me with it. I suppose, the problem is with "Assigning PCB Decals to Part Types" settings.
May be someone knows how can I correctly associate component footprint with its schematic symbol?

Welcome to the confusing world of Mentor Graphics!. In Layout, create your decal. When you save it, it will ask if you want to create a Part Type; say yes, and give it a name. In DxDesigner in the Part Properties, assign the name of the decal to the attribute PKG_TYPE. (If your part doesn't have the PKG_TYPE attribute, just add it). Why Mentor calls it "PKG_TYPE" in DxDesigner and "Decal" in Layout is just to confuse us and make us question our decision to go into electronics.

Thank you for your reply!
I have done everything as you said but there is still a problem. When I try to make a DxDesigner Link in PADS Layout, it shows the following:

Reading file -- E:\Projects\LCDProject\Schematic1.asc
Can't find part Type item < PCIEX8-2 >
U2 PCIEX8-2@X8CONN5
ATTRIBUTE VALUES
Error: Component U2 not found
ATTRIBUTE VALUES
PART U2
Warning: Attribute type PKG_TYPE not found, free text attribute assumed
**INPUT WARNINGS FOUND**

("PCIEX8-2" - name of schematic symbol in DxDesigner. "X8CONN5" - name of Decal in PADS Layout)

And no Decal appears in PADS Layout workspace. However in "Process indicator" both points have red ticks.

How do you think, what could be a problem??

I have found my mistake!!!!!!!!

I forgot to add a DEVICE property for my symbol in DxDesigner!
After I added it, the link started to work properly!!!
