psu project

Well, I made a simple cnc 3axes machine with 3 stepper motors.Everything is almost done except psu part...I need some .sch of psu with about 150W on is output and changeable output voltage between 12 and 40 volts...
any help will be appreciated...

Best option is not to design it yourself for a single prototype. Modify a PC SMPS. that will require transformer mod and some resistors. try searching google for PC SMPS mods

Does it have to be switch mode? PC supplies are still pretty hefty, larger than a 150VA transformer for sure.

Classical transformer is bulky and I have no room for it...
Clasical PC PSU are pretty complex for modifications and it's simpler for me to make a completely new smps...
I dont need to make somethig too complex...and, it has to be with changeable output voltage (15-40/50VDC :? ).

Go to power integration website and download their SMPS design software. They have pretty good application notes and desing idead with complete PCB layouts. I think the Top Switch family will suffice your requirements.

Btw, can you tell me more about your CNC? I am very intrested.

Oket...
TNX...I'll try their site!

I did my little cnc machine preferable for miling and driling pcb's. Shafts and motors are from old A3 matrix printers, few days of work and voila...
I used ideas from the site http://www.elektronika.rs.ba/data/projekti/cnc/elektronika_v2.shtml
(sorry, only in serbian language)
Electronics is fully operated under KCam and sch is totally used from this site...I bought programmed PIC from this site for 25KM (convertible marks) (1KM=0.5Euro).
You do not need any third party service for making mechanical construction, only ideas and 4-5 used old matrix printers! Electronics from them is pretty usable.

This is part of sch with output for one motor...Does anyone know how to convert it for using NPN power transistors?

Great. Why dont use the power supply from the printer itself? Also, u can try ULN2803 type of things instead of transitors.
