Hi mates....

I have netlist (DSN) file for Allegro.. But i dont know what is the next thing to be done in allegro PCB editor.. ie., How to assign footprints to the orcad schematic's components and after assigning, how to import the nelist into allegro??.. Plz reply me frnds...

DSN file is the schematics file.
In shchematics you have to enter PCBFootprint form Editproperties (pictures attached).

Now from tools -->create netlist ,create netlist for PCB editor. ( 3 files - pstxnet.dat,pstxprt.dat,and pstchip.dat-will be generated)
This netlist can be imported to allegro.
(hmmm... if you are new to allegro environment, little bit difficult to start. But once you able to master it allegro is a
obedient slave)

Thank u so much for yr reply sir.. i got the idea that u told.. and i want to know one more thing.. ie.,
For example, in allegro footprint library, i am having one file like berg_2x8.dra
Should i use as it is (or) is berg_2x8 (without .dra) enough?...

*.dra is the footprint file.
while assigning footprint in shematics you can exclude the extension .dra

(for eg let your footprint is R0805.dra but enter R0805 in schematics)
 
hi sir..

As u told, i finished all correction in the orcad schematic and have got the 3 file u told like pstxnet.dat,pstxprt.dat,and pstchip.dat. while importing, i went through this path(file-> import -> logic -> cadence -> import cadence) results as imported successfully. after importing the blank black page get opened, where i have strucked. Can u plz clarify me sir??.

try Place--> manually

( hope you have mapped all the library path - PSM path and PAD path in setup---> user preferance-->design paths)
